The Director of Operations will help us fight for students who lack access to education and the Gospel by leading day-to-day operations, overseeing org-wide finances, and providing administrative support to our teams.

Areas of Responsibility

Operations Director

Manages the day-to-day operational functions of our stateside organization and provides leadership and support to annual goals and staff meetings. Deliverables:

  • Drives progress on org-wide annual goals and provides accountability to leaders

  • Oversees stateside office space and supply purchasing

  • Provides leadership and support to monthly Global staff meetings

  • Meets with Haitian Lead Team monthly to discuss goals and drive progress

Financial Leader

Oversees and manages One 17’s finances including budget development, expense reporting, accounting oversight, and nonprofit compliance requirements. Deliverables:

  • Oversees the development of monthly financial reports and ensures that the organization remains in a place of financial strength

  • Completes monthly bill-pay and expense reports

  • Works with One 17’s accounting firm to ensure accurate income and expense reporting

  • Maintains business entity and nonprofit reports, facilitates the annual audit, and oversees our annual tax filing process

  • Meets with the One 17 Finance Committee quarterly to drive financial health and improvement

HR Catalyst

Develops and maintains clear, people-focused human resource policies, practices, benefits, and role descriptions. Deliverables:

  • Provides leadership to the development and implementation of human resource policies and manages HR documents

  • Provides leadership to the development and maintenance of staff benefit programs

  • Creates and maintains staff and volunteer job descriptions

  • Tracks volunteer log and hours

Sending Coordinator

Facilitates our sending process for short and long-term missions and provides administrative leadership, training, and support to those serving abroad. Deliverables:

  • Administrates short-term mission trips and leads pre-trip and post-trip training

  • Provides support, supervision and care to long-term missionaries

  • Leads up to four short-term mission trips per year

School Support

Collaborates with school leaders to maintain and improve programs, processes, and ministry outcomes by providing administrative and operational support. Deliverables:

  • Provides administrative support to school leaders through the development of processes and procedures that unify standards across the organization

  • Collaborates with school staff to track and report ministry impact metrics 

Qualifications

  • Expresses and demonstrates a Christ-centered worldview personally and professionally

  • Resonates personally with One 17 International’s mission

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent degrees

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in nonprofit management, business, and/or international missions

  • Possesses the ability to work independently and collaboratively

Role Details

Job Title: Director of Operations

Status: Regular Full-time, Exempt (40 hours/week)

Supervisor Title: Executive Director

Benefits:​ The salary is determined by One 17’s Board of Directors and includes 3 weeks of paid vacation, 14 holidays, healthcare contribution, 10% employer 401(k) contribution, paid maternity/paternity leave, and a cell phone reimbursement.

Location: This position is based out of Zeeland, Michigan and includes 7-21 days of travel per year (1-2 mission trips). 70-80% of hours should be completed in our office when not meeting with partners and volunteers outside of the office.
