Inspired by Psalm 34:8 and compelled by the needs of our students in Haiti and Cambodia, we aim to raise $100,000 through our Spring Campaign, “Taste & See.” This fundraiser will help us meet the physical and spiritual needs of our students.
According to the World Food Programme, nearly half of Haiti’s population experiences food insecurity (March 2024). In March of 2024, our staff estimated that our school lunch is the only meal 70% of our students eat consistently. That was and is unacceptable. We took action by expanding our budget to include breakfast Monday-Friday and lunch on Saturday. No turning back. The need is still there a year later.
The needs of our students are not merely physical though. As Jesus said in Matthew 4, “man cannot live on bread alone.” In Cambodia, less than 2% of the population is Christian. In Haiti, while over 90% of the population claims to be Christian 75% also admit to practicing voodoo. When local leaders who love Jesus are equipped with culturally relevant discipleship resources hope breaks through. Transformation takes place. Students find Jesus.
Haiti and Cambodia are uniquely challenged by both physical and spiritual poverty. Hope through education isn’t hopeful if kids are hungry and walking in darkness. It’s time to act!
$140 can help one student taste nutritious food daily. $157 can help one student see Jesus and experience discipleship.
