Makara
Makara is a 10-year-old student studying basic English at our school in Cambodia in Sokhourn’s classroom. One of his favorite things about class is the opportunity he gets to dive into Bible stories through skits and drama. He loves the story of Joseph and the ways in which he was obedient to God’s call on his life! Makara is learning that his God is a big, powerful God that is full of love for him. In his own words, he loves that God forgives his sins and gives him the opportunity to go to school and learn English. “Now,” he says, “I know that God loves me and is giving me more wisdom!”
Maickon
Maickon is a 3rd grade student at our first campus in Haiti. He’s fun-loving, intelligent, energetic, and slightly mischievous. Like elementary boys all over the world, he is learning the difference between right and wrong and how to channel his energy in productive ways. When confronted with an ethical dilemma presented by a peer in his 3rd grade classroom, he referenced our school’s virtue of honesty and decided to tell the truth rather than tell a lie. Small moments reveal big character, and God is on the move in Maickon’s heart.
