The Director of Development will help us fight for students who lack access to education and the Gospel by providing leadership to our fundraising strategy, cultivating meaningful relationships with volunteers, donors, and partners, and creating engaging marketing and communication content.

Areas of Responsibility
development Director
Provides strategic direction to One 17’s fundraising strategy and mobilizes a team of volunteers to expand our reach. Deliverables:
Collaborates with our Executive Director to develop One 17’s annual fundraising and growth strategy (striving to grow from $780k raised in 2023 to $1.5MM in 2026)
Executes our fundraising plan ensuring that we meet or exceed annual goals
Develops and implements strategies that help us gain new church, industry, and nonprofit partners annually
Recruits and leads a team of volunteers to serve on a Development Committee that helps One 17 expand its reach, develop new donor prospects, and coordinate annual events
Leads vision trips or partner trips to school locations on an annual basis (1-2 trips per year)
Fundraising Officer
Builds meaningful relationships with new and existing donors and provides leadership to fundraising and donor care programs. Deliverables:
Cultivates meaningful relationships with 40-60 individual donors to facilitate increased engagement in our mission
Creates and coordinates 3-6 mission-centric event experiences per year raising $150k+ through new and existing donors and partners
Oversees and leads One 17’s planned giving program
Increases engagement in One 17’s recurring donor program (Keyholder Community) to facilitate increased sustainability
Leads our donor care program ensuring that individuals and partners are shown appreciation in a creative, authentic, timely manner
Participates in networking events monthly serving as a storyteller and ambassador for our mission
Communications and Marketing Director
Develops creative content that helps One 17 raise awareness and resources for our mission. Deliverables:
Develops and implements a marketing and communication plan that includes social media, email campaigns, and awareness campaigns
Collaborates with Haiti and Cambodia Marketing Coordinators monthly to learn stories of impact and develop content
Creates and posts 16-20 social media posts per month
Develops and sends at least two email campaigns per month
Maintains and improves our website on an ongoing basis
Develops a monthly “focus story” and shares the story across all platforms
Provides leadership and direction to the creation of our Annual Report
Develops 3-4 communication pieces for our recurring donors (Keyholder Community) annually
Builds a team of volunteers or interns to provide support to marketing and communications
Executive Leader
Provides executive leadership to the organization by engaging in monthly meetings, quarterly strategic planning initiatives, and staff development initiatives. Deliverables:
Provides strategic oversight and guidance to the organization by serving on the Executive Team with the Executive Director, Director of Operations, Cambodia Directors, and Haiti Directors
Participates in quarterly strategic planning meetings
Provides coaching and mentoring to international team members as needed
Participates in up to 1 Board of Director meeting per year
Collaborates on long-term strategic planning and vision development
Engages in monthly Global staff meetings two times per month
Participates in 2-3 staff off-site meetings or retreats per year
Qualifications
Expresses and demonstrates a Christ-centered worldview personally and professionally
Resonates personally with One 17 International’s mission
Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Marketing, or equivalent degrees
Minimum of 3 years experience working in fundraising, sales, marketing, or business
Possesses the ability to work independently and collaboratively

Role Details
Job Title: Director of Development
Status: Regular Full-time, Exempt (40+ hours/week)
Supervisor Title: Executive Director
Benefits: The salary is determined by One 17’s Board of Directors and includes 3 weeks of paid vacation, 14 holidays, healthcare contribution, 10% employer 401(k) contribution, paid maternity/paternity leave, and a cell phone reimbursement.
Location: This position is based out of Zeeland, Michigan and includes 7-21 days of travel per year (1-2 mission trips). 70-80% of hours should be completed in our office when not meeting with donors and volunteers outside of the office.
