At Project 117 (now One 17 International), we see hope through education for the left behind in Haiti. True education helps students discover who they are in Christ and what they are created to do.
A Word from Curtis
Project 117 Executive Director
Our third year of operating our first school was full of impact. We saw our Haitian staff own the operations of our school more than ever through the leadership of Greg, our Principal. We experienced God’s incredible faithfulness as we began fundraising for the second phase of campus development and are nearly 75% funded. Finally, we watched volunteers and donors step up in remarkable ways as our movement grew more influential and God continued to divinely align the right people at the right time to advance our cause.
Impact
Our staff grew not only in numbers, but in leadership capacity
Worcarline, Kindergarten 1 Teacher
WORCARLINE SHOWED INCREDIBLE INITIATIVE AND LEADERSHIP ABILITIES IN HER CLASSROOM. SHE HAS A BRIGHT FUTURE AT THE SCHOOL AND IS NOW SERVING AS A COACH FOR OTHER TEACHERS.
Nicole, Lead Cook
NICOLE HAS DEVELOPED INTO A LEADER BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF PROJECT 117’S WALLS. SHE IS FILLING HUNGRY BELLIES, SHARING THE GOSPEL WITH HER COWORKERS, AND BECOMING A STRONG LEADER IN HER CHURCH AND COMMUNITY.
Sarah, Development Assistant
OUR STATESIDE STAFF IS GROWING, TOO. THANKS TO YOU, WE WERE ABLE TO HIRE SARAH! SHE IS AN INCREDIBLE STORYTELLER AND SERVANT.
We continued to help students—young and old—experience true education
Woodline, Kindergarten 3 Student (2016-17)
WOODLINE BEGAN THE YEAR AS ONE OF THE QUIETEST STUDENTS IN HER K-2 CLASS. BY JUNE, SHE WAS AN AWARD-WINNER WHO WAS ALWAYS READY TO HELP HER PEERS AND TEACHERS IN ANY WAY THEY NEEDED.
Silfise, Adult Literacy Participant & Institution One 17 Staff Member
WE SAW THE INJUSTICE OF ADULT ILLITERACY IN THE COMMUNITY AND WENT AFTER IT WITH THE CREATION OF OUR ADULT CLASSES IN THE EVENINGS. SIX ADULTS NOW KNOW HOW TO READ AND WRITE THEIR NAMES AND ARE CONTINUING A SECOND YEAR OF LITERACY CLASS.
Claudy, Work Study Student
CLAUDY, one of five work study students, CONTINUES TO BE AMONG THE TOP THREE STUDENTS IN HIS CLASS AS HE CONSISTENTLY EXCELS IN ACADEMICS AND SHOWS LEADERSHIP BEYOND HIS YEARS.
Institution One 17 Parent Leadership Committee
IN A SURVEY OF OUR STUDENTS’ PARENTS, 100% OF THOSE WHO RESPONDED WERE SATISFIED WITH THEIR CHILD’S EDUCATION AT OUR SCHOOL. 98% SAID THAT THEY WERE PROUD THAT THEIR CHILD ATTENDS OUR SCHOOL.
We’ve seen volunteers help us take new ground as an organization
1:17 Curriculum Team
THE 1:17 CURRICULUM TEAM USED THEIR ARTISTIC AND STORYTELLING TALENTS TO CREATE AND DEVELOP A BIBLE-BASED CURRICULUM THAT ALLOWS OUR STUDENTS TO LEARN, FIRSTHAND, THE HOPE OF THE GOSPEL.
Project 117 Board of Directors
OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS GREW CLOSER TOGETHER AS A TEAM THROUGH OUR FIRST ANNUAL RETREAT WHERE WE FOCUSED ON BUILDING THE HEALTH OF OUR organization AND developing A 5-YEAR STRATEGIC PLAN!

A Look Ahead
Last year was an incredible year for Project 117, and we have no intention of slowing down. In the 2016-17 year we will:
Employ 20 Haitian staff, our largest staff ever.
Break ground on the Prodigy Building, a space that will help students discover the prodigy within and equip them to create solutions to the biggest needs facing their community.
Serve 129 students, including 102 primary and kindergarten students, 9 work study students, and 18 adults through our literacy program.
Thank you for sharing in another year of HOPE through education.
Join us by praying for new influence in the next chapter of our story.
