At Project 117, our mission is to build and operate schools for the left behind in Haiti. Our second year of operating our first school was incredible. Our Haitian staff team owned our mission and wrote a beautiful story through their work. Our stateside operations discovered a new piece of its identity and grew more influential.

"You are the light of the world." Matthew 5:14

A letter from Curtis

Our second year of hope through education started with six-weeks of grueling construction led by volunteers and Haitian builders. School opened on our campus for the first time in October, and we never turned back! Inspired by Matthew 5:14, we went about the work of teaching 60 students what it means to be the light of the world through art, academics, camp experiences, unconditional love, and a new system for discipline. Our Haitian staff of nine, led by our Principal Gregory, began developing the culture of our school in new ways by striving to connect with our students and their families through learning their stories.

On the stateside, our first annual “One 17 Challenge” achieved huge fundraising success and became part of our organizational identity as God blessed us with resources in a new way! Our board of directors transitioned for the second time in our organization’s history as four original members transitioned off and three new members joined the team. God aligned us with two new church partners whom we will lock arms with as we pursue God’s kingdom movement together! God, the faithful provider, is blessing our organization with a little more influence each year. The best is yet to come!

True education helps students discover who they are in Christ and what they were created to do.

Thanks to increased school funding, we were able to add four new staff members to our Haitian team including Gregory, our Principal. Gregory led with passion and authority in our school as he spoke truth into the hearts of students and parents alike.

Community outreach became a bigger part of our school’s story as we were able to start supplying fresh, clean water to locals for 2-3 hours each day. Students like Joudmerline are now able to drink clean water at school and at home.
